Stock Shoot BSS5 – Nashville, TN

Well, I was feeling kinda special because my shooting partners iStockphoto members Dan BachmanJacom Stephens have hosted me out west for some really killer photoshoots. At the first of the year, we got on a conference call and tried to come up with a shoot schedule for 2011. I made a big push for the boys to come to Nashville and let me show them some love in return.

Old Nashville Prison

I had my work cut out for me. I really wanted to make it a great event with some fantastic places to shoot. I found out that one of my friends had bought a Miniature Golf/ Driving Range / Go Cart / Batting Cage complex. So I call my friend Jeff Spivey to see if the complex would be available for a photoshoot and he kindly said “No Problem”. I also had been wanting to shoot at the TENNESSEE STATE PRISON. It’s is an old facility that is used by the movie industry a lot. The Green Mile, The Last Castle and Shaw Shank Redemption were filmed there, just to name a few. I did some research and found out that it is run by the Nashville Film Commission. I gave them a call, did alot of paperwork, and with approvals from over 60 city council members, we got approved to shoot there for 2 days. The pictures of the prison on their website really looked cool but they did not do it justice! I got to see it in person for myself!

One of my studio assistants Michael Miller (iStockphoto Member COWLICKCREATIVE ) and myself felt like kids in a candy store. This place is a photographer’s dream location. From death row to stone walls, this place has attitude. I couldn’t wait till Dan and Jacom could see this place. Michael secured Buffalo Billiards (Cool pool hall and bar) and with 25 great models this would turn out to be a fantastic event. The themes we created were a vast variety, Outdoor fun, Zombies, Vintage Business, Girls out on the town, Pool, 1940’s, Prison Life, and much more. I also have to give mad props to John King, he was our other assistant and worked like a madman.

On Monday we shot at the Buffalo Billiards. I was super tired and brain dead so I didn’t shoot any. Can’t wait to see what Dan and Jacom came up with. Dan left on Monday but Jacom and I did studio shooting for 3 more days with some really great models.
